Riyadh Airports Company, the operator of King Khalid International Airport (KKIA), announced that KKIA has achieved the 24th position globally in the 2025 Skytrax World Airport Awards, out of 580 competing airports — the highest ranking ever among Saudi airports, marking an impressive 11-place advancement from the previous year. The award was presented during the Passenger Terminal Expo held in Madrid, Spain, from April 8–10, 2025.
Additionally, King Khalid International Airport received several major accolades this year:
-
Best Airport Staff in the Middle East
-
3rd Best New Airport Terminal Worldwide
-
4th Best Airport in the World in the 30–40 Million Passengers Category
These awards were presented by Skytrax, the global authority on airline and airport ratings since 1999.
Commenting on the achievement, Mr. Ayman bin Abdulaziz Ababtain, CEO of Riyadh Airports Company, stated:
“This milestone reflects a true endorsement by our passengers and users who experienced our services through hundreds of flights arriving and departing each day. It is the most significant achievement of the year and a testament to our continuous efforts.”
He added: “Thanks to the strong collaboration with our partners, this recognition reflects the progress made in enhancing airport services and travel experiences, reinforcing our leadership position aligned with the National Aviation Strategy and Saudi Vision 2030.”
Mr. Ababtain also highlighted the pivotal support and oversight from the Minister of Transport and Logistics and the President of the General Authority of Civil Aviation. Their leadership has significantly contributed to raising the airport’s operational efficiency, safety, logistics services, and technology adoption — ensuring compliance with both national priorities and global standards.
He concluded:
“This recognition strengthens KKIA’s global position and motivates us to further our development efforts. With the expected rise in international passengers in the coming years, we remain committed to reaching even higher ranks, God willing.
