“Riyadh Airports” Implements a New Baggage Check-in Mechanism for Connecting Flights through the Capital’s Airport

“Riyadh Airports” implemented a new baggage check-in mechanism for connecting flights (Transit) between international and domestic flights at King Khalid International Airport, which aims to speed up baggage procedures and to make it arrive directly at the final destination for the passengers without the need to receive and check-in the baggage again, making it easier for the passengers to travel to and from King Khalid International Airport.

Where the previous mechanism required passengers with connecting flights to receive their baggage from the international terminals and then re-check it back to the domestic terminal. The new mechanism is a part of the strategic plans to improve the passengers’ experience and to enhance all services provided to them through the Capital’s Airport.

“Riyadh Airports” revealed that the new mechanism will significantly reduce the effort and waiting time for passengers with connecting flights, and will increase the operational efficiency, to cope with the expected growth in the number of passengers, flights and baggage in the upcoming years. The company also pointed out that this mechanism has been put into operation and activation after the completion of all procedures related to it through the preparation of the infrastructure and all the security equipment, in addition to the development of new systems.

“Riyadh Airports” appreciated the efforts of all the airport’s stakeholders from the government entities (Saudi Customs Authority, Airport intelligence Department, Royal Saudi Air Force) and the Saudi Ground Services Company, that contributed to this achievement, in which it made a qualitative leap in the passenger’s experience through the Capital’s Airport
