A new Airport Operations Control Center (AOCC) has been launched at King Khalid International Airport by operator Riyadh Airports to improve the passenger experience at the capital's airport. A facility designed to monitor all processes at the airport that impact passengers from when they arrive at their terminal all the way through to boarding their aircraft, the AOCC supports collaborative decisions making between the airports stakeholders to ensure punctuality, quality, and continuous improvement of airport services.
To mark the launch of the new AOCC, an inauguration ceremony was held, attended by His Excellency, President of the General Authority of Civil Aviation, Mr. Abdulaziz bin Abdullah Al-Duailej, alongside the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Riyadh Airports, Dr. Ghazi bin Abdul Rahim Al-Rawi, and Riyadh Airports CEO, Eng. Mohammed bin Abdullah Al-Maghlouth.
The new control center manages nearly 700 flights per day for passengers, cargo, and private aviation, with the goal of improving services for more than 30 million passengers per year. Housing over 25 operational and security entities, the center gathers all related data from across the airport into a single location. In doing so, AOCC facilitates the sharing of information and more effective decision-making, bringing greater efficiency to the airport’s operations. The platform also provides resource management and performance indicator tools to airport management to further improve the passenger experience.
Speaking on the launch, CEO of Riyadh Airports, Eng. Mohammed bin Abdullah Al-Maghlouth, said: "We are delighted to celebrate yet another worthy milestone at King Khalid International with the launch of our new Airport Operations Control Center. This latest initiative will enable proactive data-based measures to be taken by Riyadh Airports, helping us to improve planning processes, and of course, the passenger experience. This is a testament to our commitment to become one of the region’s leading airports as we continue to work towards achieving the objectives of Vision 2030 to become a leading transport and tourism hub.”
